BUILDING ENVELOPE INSPECTIONS & MAINTENANCE | ROPE ACCESS SUPERVISION & SERVICE

Rope access is the most contemporary form of using braided fibre, to move humans and materials. It was developed and standardized in the late 1980s and rapidly evolved from caves to every work at height industry we see today, allowing for the highly efficient access and material handling systems in use today.

With subject matter expertise gained from thousands of documented hours instructing and performing work at height, this time in suspension sets us apart from others not only in our ability to safely execute projects at an exceptionally high level, but also to redefine that standard through the design, development and deployment of custom access, inspection and maintenance systems.

Going beyond minimum requirements, we systematically collect, process, analyze and organize data into actionable products for property owners, managers, and engineering firms. Products such as:
- Consistent, close-proximity visual and photographic inspections of high-rise building facades
- Granular documentation of every detail of the building’s exterior condition, exceeding BEVA requirements in Calgary
- Building inspection bundles including accurately labeled, organized and analyzed image sets, and comprehensive reports for engineers and property managers
- Inspections that are completed with a combination of the most appropriate access and inspection techniques, including: rope access, swing stage, and visual inspection technology
Preventative maintenance is necessary for the proper functioning of any mechanical system, building envelopes are not excluded. Our maintenance services include:

Relyk Contracting is committed to automating the building maintenance and inspection field.
This includes the design and development of a deep learning pipeline for detection, classification and labelling of inspection images (underway), the deployment of these inspection assets with rope access technicians, as well as the development of robotic climbers to deploy with imaging payloads connected via tethered power and information pipeline (next steps), and the design of precision surface cleaning technology for the complete cleaning of high-rise building envelopes, with water recovery and recycling (future state).

VERTIKYLE

Kyle Egeland, the founder of Relyk Contracting, is a Level 3 SPRAT and Level 3 IRATA Technician and Instructor with a decade of experience in rope access operations and instruction.

Combining an in depth understanding of high-rise building rope access, inspections and maintenance and experience in cognitive systems design, Kyle occupies his spare time designing, developing and deploying custom building inspection and maintenance tools, as well as highly refined access systems with a small network of likeminded contractors in various work-at-height specializations.

All of this builds upon a life long passion for strings and stringed things (electrical chords, stringed instruments, and ropes) and several decades of tying and untying tangles, intentional and otherwise. Kyle has been a dual certified SPRAT and IRATA trained rope access building maintenance technician since 2016 and is a member of the International Guild of Knot Tyers.

Always eager to collaborate with good people, Kyle has been spending much of his operational time working with companies on the development of rope access programs, the training of their employees, and supervision and mentorship services for field operations.
